The other reviews already say it - Fast, Fun, Durable and truly Ready-to-Run. I bought this for my 7-yr-old daughter so she would have a toy that we could both play with. I knew it was a little advanced for her, but she has taken to it really well after a few hesitant starts. Its too fast to run indoors unless you have a lot of experience. Plenty of room really helps. On gravel it flies and throws stones behind it. On grass it gets bogged down, but keeps going. On a big, smooth surface, like frozen-over snow, it ran as fast as my cat! Expect occasional ball-pops when you hit things, (where the little steering components come apart at the ball joint) but they go back together pretty quickly. A child won't be able to fix a ball-pop - it takes a strong grip on small parts. This thing has been abused, but it took months to finally break it. It was a small hub part that snapped when it hit a heavy chair on the deck with a wheel, going full speed. It cost about $5.00 for a set of parts. Everything is high-quality and fits together superbly, but it is tiny precision stuff. I had to use a jewelers loupe and tweezers to see the little lock-pin to take it apart. It comes with a lug wrench for the wheels, but you will need some good, tiny tools to work on it. The radio is super-adjustable and tunable, but very sensitive to interference near my home entertainment system - makes the steering twitch back and forth. Outside the range is really good. Same radio batteries now for a few months still going strong. It comes with spring spacers for the shocks to stiffen the suspension, which I used, and it helps on rough terrain. Get the fast charger!! Well worth it. Battery life is really good, but when it goes, its gone. Loads of upgrades available. We did ball bearings just because they're so easy to do. I don't notice any performance difference, but we just play, not race. ((I do need to buy another so we CAN race, but I'm looking at the 1/10th desert truck so the grass and such is not an issue. ))
My daughter loves to put her Polly Pocket dolls onto the truck and race them around until they fall off, then run over them. But really, this isn't a toy - its a serious hobby item (yeah, well...) It goes fast enough to hurt someone if you run it into them. Best part is how maneuverable it is. Full throttle on wood floor - let go - turn hard - it will actually chirp the tires as it fishtails around 180 degrees and stops! So cool! I can't imagine how scary it would be with a hot-rod brushless motor and LiPo battery. Only complaint - and very minor - is that the antenna mast pops out of the slot too easily when it flips over. Big deal. Check it out in action on YouTube - lots of videos there of it. Enjoy!
